Robert Cross – CEO

In 1985, Bob started Xencom Systems to provide energy management and control systems to the industrial and commercial sectors. With our focus on retail, Xencom Energy Management maintains over 150 energy management systems in malls throughout the US.

In 1998, Cross partnered with Mike Ponds to start Xencom Facility Management to address the needs of the shopping center industry to outsource facility maintenance and janitorial services. With our focus on retail, we now help maintain over 45,000,000 sq ft.

Again in 2008, with the growing needs of our customers to understand the newly deregulated electric and natural gas markets, Xencom Green Energy was formed. We help our customers manage over $75,000,000 in utility purchases.

Bob’s experience in energy, HVAC and electrical systems has enable him to serve on the sustainability and energy design teams of several large retail developers.

Mike Ponds – Co-founder

Mr. Ponds began his shopping center career in the mid 1970’s as a construction coordinator for Paul Broadhead & Associates. After building 12 regional shopping malls and remodeling several others, Mike joined Toronto based, Marathon US Realties. As Marathon’s Corporate Facilities Manager, he was responsible for their entire mall portfolio. In 1998, Mike teamed with Bob Cross to found Xencom Facility Management. 

During Mike’s 40 years in the industry, he has worked in all phases of retail development, construction, property operations and management. He has served on the faculty of The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) University and holds the professional designation of CSM (Certified Shopping Center Manager). 

John Luxen – CFO 

Xencom Co-founder and graduate from Drake University with BSBA degree with a major in accounting.

John has been a Certified Public Account since 1979 and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accounts. Before joining Xencom, John worked for one of the “Big 4” public accounting firms and then as the Chief Financial Officer for a large real estate developer in the Southwest where he was introduced to Xencom.

Michael Ponds – President of Xencom Facility Management

In 2007, Michael joined Xencom to manage day-to-day operations and grow the business. Drawing on his 10 years of prior experience in real estate and finance, he implemented policies and procedures that quickly streamlined the critical functions of the company. The result has been improved performance, better employee morale and greater customer satisfaction.

Under his supervision, business development has shown extraordinary growth. For six consecutive years, measuring year over year, Xencom has been recognized by the prestigious SMU Cox School of Business as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in North Texas.

Brian Cross – President of Xencom Green Energy

Brian is a graduate of TCU’s Neeley School of Business with a major in Finance and a minor in Mathematics.  Prior to college he worked for all of the Xencom Companies with duties ranging from building energy control panels, software programming and electrical work to assembling a construction cleanup team to get the Stonebriar Mall ready to open.

Before joining Xencom Green Energy as President, Brian was an Account Executive for Capital Institutional Services, an agency broker, where he helped manage equity/fixed income trading accounts and equity research for institutional investment firms.  While there he earned his Series 7 and 63 licenses with the SEC.

As President, Brian is now focused on driving the company to optimize each customer’s procurement strategy for electricity and natural gas to get the best pricing structure available that will meet the needs of each individual property as well as helping them take advantage of energy conservation opportunities when they become available in the marketplace.  He has also earned Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) and LEED AG professional designations.
